Location: Caribbean Islands National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) Complex
Type of Job: Full-time Contract Position
Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
Duties:
- Assist in repairing fences and installing/repairing gates on the Caribbean Islands NWR Complex to prevent illegal entrance of off-road vehicles, cattle, and horses into Refuge lands.
- Support general facility maintenance projects, including construction, rehabilitation, preventive maintenance, concrete work, carpentry, plumbing, basic electrical work, planting, vegetation control, and operation of agricultural equipment.
- Assist with maintenance mechanic operations, including vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance, welding, torch cutting, grinding, and general metalwork.
- Valid state driver's license.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle repairs, heavy equipment operation, welding, masonry work, and basic carpentry skills.
- Fish and Wildlife Service certification to operate heavy equipment.
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
