Plan and conduct laboratory studies in compliance with protocols, guidelines, and cGMP regulations.
Interpret experimental data, provide scientific insights, and integrate findings into project objectives.
Develop, implement, and introduce new protocols, methods, and scientific approaches.
Perform primary packaging evaluations, container defect analysis, and glass/polymer forensic studies.
Conduct research on the structures and properties of metals, polymers, and ceramics to improve or develop new products and materials.
Evaluate material samples under tension, compression, and shear to determine performance and causes of failure.
Operate specialized laboratory equipment, imaging acquisition systems, and related software to support testing and analysis.
Study primary container components (glass, polymers, metals), their specifications, formation processes, and defect classifications.
Provide solutions for technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
Participate in cross-functional teams and represent the department on projects under guidance.
Author clear and precise technical reports, regulatory documents, scientific summaries, invention disclosures, and patents.
Collaborate within and outside the Process Development Department and broader network to support innovation and best practices.
Contribute to departmental initiatives such as safety, operational excellence, and recruiting.
Monitor field-specific literature and technology advancements, sharing relevant observations with the team.
Manage small-scale projects and timelines under general direction.
Support commissioning and qualification activities.
Share knowledge to mentor colleagues and strengthen team expertise.
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental health practices, maintaining a safe laboratory environment.Preferred QualificationsEducational background in Engineering or Physics strongly preferred.
Experience in inspection (manual/automatic), packaging areas, or primary container components.
Demonstrated knowledge of glass and polymer formation processes, defects, and classifications.
Willingness to work in a process development laboratory environment.Education RequirementsDoctorate degree; OR
Master's degree and 2 years of relevant experience; OR
Bachelor's degree and 4 years of relevant experience.Competencies & SkillsAdvanced scientific analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
Strong laboratory skills, including experimental design and data interpretation.
Knowledge of container materials science (glass, polymers, metals).
Project management, prioritization, and multitasking abilities.
Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to adapt to change and maintain flexibility in a dynamic environment.
Fully bilingual (English/Spanish).
Proficiency with cGMP regulations, computer systems, and laboratory instrumentation.
