The Professional Land Surveyor is responsible for planning, conducting, and supervising land surveys to determine property boundaries, elevations, and other topographical features. This role ensures that surveys are completed accurately and in compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and project specifications. The Professional Land Surveyor also prepares survey proposals, reviews survey data, prepares reports and legal descriptions, and provides technical guidance to survey teams.*Responsibilities*
- Perform and oversee land surveys to collect accurate data used in mapping, construction, and property documentation.
- Plan survey projects, including determining methods, equipment, and procedures.
- Analyze survey data, maps, aerial photographs, and legal records.
- Prepare and review survey reports, plats, maps, and legal descriptions of land.
- Ensure all surveying work complies with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Supervise and provide technical direction to field survey crews and technicians.
- Utilize survey equipment and software such as GPS, total stations, Scanner and CAD/GIS systems.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, construction managers, and project stakeholders.
- Verify the accuracy of survey data and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain proper documentation and records of all survey activities in Puerto Rico.
- A valid Puerto Rico Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license is required, with multiple state licensures being a plus.
- Field and office experience in land surveying is essential, and attention to detail is a must.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for effective collaboration and the ability to take direction and grow with the company.
- A proven track record of managing survey crews.
- Experience with surveying instruments and software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation GIS, GPS systems), 3D Laser Scanning experience is favorable but not essential.
- Ability to supervise field personnel and manage multiple projects.
- Certificate of Good Standing
- Bilingual (Spanish and English)
- Combination of office work and outdoor fieldwork in various weather conditions.
- May involve travel to project sites and construction locations.
- Works in a traditional office environment.
- Constant use of computers, computer systems and other office equipment.
- Constant contact with other employees of different organizational level, clients, and suppliers.
- Physical effort associated with sedentary work that requires sitting for most of the time and standing or walking occasionally.
