- Maintain the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports
- Oversee the school's annual budgeting process and assist departments with budget tracking and analysis
- Ensure timely payment of invoices and collection of tuition and other receivables
- Coordinate and support the annual audit, including preparation of audit schedules and working with external auditors
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and reporting requirements
- Support financial planning and forecasting efforts
- Maintain internal controls and recommend improvements to ensure financial integrity and prevent fraud
- Manage cash flow and banking relationships
- Assist with tuition setting, financial aid reporting, and grant accounting as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, with nonprofit or school experience highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit GAAP and fund accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly with both financial and non-financial staff.
- High level of integrity and a commitment to the mission of education
