OverviewThe Associate Software Engineer will support software development, system integration, and solution delivery for utility-focused applications and platforms. As a consultant, you will work with internal teams and directly with client stakeholders to develop and deploy scalable, reliable, and secure software solutions that support grid modernization, energy distribution, and asset management.Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software solutions tailored to utility clients’ needs, including grid operations, energy analytics, and digital asset management.
- Assist in the configuration and deployment of commercial and custom-built applications for power utilities.
- Participate in client workshops, requirements gathering, and technical discussions.
- Work closely with senior engineers and consultants to design and implement scalable, maintainable code.
- Collaborate in Agile development cycles, supporting sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives.
- Support data integration between utility systems (e.g., SCADA, GIS, OMS, AMI, DERMS).
- Conduct software testing (unit, integration, UAT) and assist in issue resolution.
- Help prepare technical documentation, training materials, and user guides for clients.
- Stay current with industry standards, emerging technologies, and power sector regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience or coursework in software development using languages such as Python, Java, .NET (C#), or JavaScript.
- Basic understanding of database management and API development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to client sites (as required).
- Internship or academic experience in the utility or energy domain.
- Exposure to grid technologies and systems (e.g., SCADA, GIS, ADMS, DERMS, or EMS).
- Familiarity with power system operations, IoT, or real-time data applications.
- Knowledge of cloud services (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and DevOps tools.
- Understanding of IT/OT integration and cybersecurity in the utility environment.
