- Ensure adequate resources to operate the sites. Including the preparation of shift and leave schedules, to ensure the most efficient use of airport personnel and ensure efficient apron service.
- Communicate and ensure compliance around PUMA expectations & standards.
- Take active interest in all staff’s wellbeing to ensure they are physically and mentally fit to carry out their duties and if they are not seeking ways of facilitating a recovery.
- Manage relations and disciplinary procedures in accordance with company personnel manual, conditions of employment, union agreement as appropriate.
- The Airport Superintendent is accountable for all operational aspects of the Terminal’s operation in accordance with the procedures and regulatory standards.
- The Superintendent is responsible for the operation of the Quality Assurance at that site. In this role, the Superintendent shall be responsible for:
- The implementation of correct quality control procedures.
- Maintaining satisfactory documentation.
- The quality of product received by the airport depot.
- The quality of product stored and handled within the depot.
- Quality of product transferred to the into plane sold to the customers at the airport.
- Accountable for the airport depot and into plane activities. This would include:
- Effective management of all Site risks including applying tools to recognize and minimize risk.
- Thorough application of Management of Change.
- Ensuring that all staff are competent to carry out their assigned duties.
- Optimizing the efficiency of the operation.
- Implementation of recommendations from audits.
- Responsibilities include interviewing; training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; employee recognition, addressing issues and ensuring employees successfully complete company's training programs.
- Where the operational needs of the airport dictate (i.e. at smaller locations like BQN and STX), the Superintendent may be required to perform as a working member of the staff and will perform the tasks that would normally be assigned to his staff.
- Accountable for all administrative duties in the depot. This includes but not limited to Sales, stock management and movements, overtime, petty cash, record keeping, data inputting. Routinely checking the accuracy of these tasks when performed by his staff.
- Assisting with the compiling of Capital and Opex Budget information for the Operations Manager controlling the Opex budget.
- Accountable for communicating stock requirements, considering any changes in demand patterns.
- Identify trends, irregularities and implementing remedial action.
- Lead a team of operations supervisors who control and monitor transfers of the various bulk liquid chemicals stored and handled at the facility. Distribute the daily workload among the Operations team.
- Coordinate and interface with customer representatives and surveyors in the daily operations.
- Play a key role in responding to terminal emergencies such as spills and fire. Drives and promotes safety throughout the site.
- Lead operations, inventory, safety and communication meetings as required.
- Leads delay and incident investigations and takes action to prevent recurrence.
- Ensures environmental policies and practices are followed and all spills are properly reported.
- Ensures hazardous wastes generated are properly handled and not allowed to accumulate.
- Coordinates with BQN, STX, Maintenance & HSSE Supervisors.
- 24/7 availability to respond to critical airport operational needs.
- Works closely with the Operations Manager to research problems and communicate necessary information.
- Some responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and employee performance management.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Complete detailed reports.
- Must be able to direct others and give clear directions.
- Able to organize and disseminate accurate operational information.
- Conduct shift briefings/meetings to ensure staff are organized.
- Ensure timely response to airlines and fueling teams for equipment-related issues and audits.
- Available to work off hours including nights, weekends & holidays.
- Represents the Company in a positive manner, modeling ethical business behavior and integrity.
- Able to respond to and direct emergency and spill response activities.
- Assures adherence to safety policies and procedures.
- Reports all accidents and injuries and assist in investigations which to prevent re-occurrence.
- Can meet Company's Attendance and code of conduct standards.
- Able to serve as a backup for operations manager.
- Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the employees.
- Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

- Carry out work in accordance with information and training provided and any specific workplace health and safety rules or procedures.
- Fully understand the company health and safety policy.
- Attend training courses as may be arranged by the Company.

- Lift and/or carry equipment or boxes.
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and smartphones.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- This would require the ability to lift up to 70 pounds, bend, stand, or stoop, as necessary.
- Ability to perform climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling and moderate lifting.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces, over water and not be afraid of heights.
- Overtime as required.
- Work both indoors and outdoors.
- Must be comfortable working in all weather conditions, work is primarily outdoors.
- Recognised 4-year post school qualification College Degree or equivalent.
- Preferred 10 years Operations experience.
- Work experience in a technical field including on airport work is an added advantage.
- Valid driver’s license or international equivalent.
- Experience with product quality control of aviation fuels.
- Proven track record as being able to self-manage, motivate and coach others.
- Availability to travel within Puerto Rico & USVI.
- OSHA and EPA Regulations Knowledge (Preferred)
- Must be able to obtain and maintain all required airports and customs badges/seals.
- Available and flexible to work weekends and holidays if required.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

- Should possess solid problem solving, multi-tasking abilities and experience in the handling of flight operations.

- Ability to interpret technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
