- Represent IPS in a knowledgeable and professional manner, maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Perform advanced diagnostics, including vibration analysis, thermographic imaging, and electrical testing as needed.
- Conduct motor removal, installation, troubleshooting, and repair for AC/DC motors in industrial and mining environments.
- Carry out precision tasks such as shaft alignment, bearing replacement, seal setting, and torquing critical components to specifications.
- Provide on-the-job training and mentorship for field service technicians in advanced electrical and mechanical skills.
- Assist with proposals, job walks, and defining work scopes for customer projects (preventive maintenance, reliability, motor change-outs, testing, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with all IPS policies, procedures, and safety requirements, including completion of field service safety checklists.
- Utilize test equipment such as Megger®, PdMA MCE, Multimeter, DLRO, and other diagnostic tools.
- Perform DC motor/generator commutator inspections, including evaluation of commutator condition, brush holders, brush wear, and mica depth.
- Clean electro-mechanical equipment using methods such as bead blasting, ice blasting, and solvent cleaning.
- Prepare detailed service and technical reports with findings and recommendations.
- Think creatively and problem-solve in challenging environments to minimize customer downtime.
- Work independently or as part of a team to complete projects safely and effectively.
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts and IPS Engineering to overcome advanced failures and repairs.
- 4+ years of hands-on AC/DC motor service experience (mining, dragline, or heavy industrial environment preferred).
- PdMA testing experience or equivalent diagnostic equipment (preferred).
- Vibration Analysis ISO CAT II certification (preferred).
- Strong skills in vibration analysis, alignment, and bearing inspections.
- Proven ability to lead teams and train technicians in the field.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow procedures precisely.
- Excellent problem-solving skills; able to adapt and think outside the box under pressure.
- Strong customer focus with professional communication skills.
- Basic computer literacy and technical report writing ability.
- Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to travel locally and overnight, with availability for overtime, weekends, and on-call assignments.
- Solid math skills, including fractions and percentages.
- Experience installing and troubleshooting Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) is a plus.
