With offices in Caguas, PR, Boston, MA & San Francisco, CA and we serve life sciences clients in six global markets: United States, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Germany, Canada, and South America.Responsibilities:Uses electricity and torches to produce heat and solder together components made from steel, titanium, copper, and other metalsWelds small components like copper plumbing for residential use and large ones like pipelines for power plants or beams for buildings and bridgesConsults blueprints and sketches in order to execute jobs and tasks to specificationAssesses equipment, structures, materials, and job specifications for appropriate welding positions and methodsMonitors equipment for appropriate usage and temperatureMaintains a thorough knowledge of universal standards and specifications in order to meet building codes and legal requirementsDevelops working knowledge of dozens of methods used for welding a variety of materials and componentsOperates specialized machinery for industrial welding or supervises robots that do the sameTrims metal components using heat, fire, and electricityTakes apart and disposes of large metal objectsMonitors work environment for hazards and maintains healthy ventilation levels to avoid particle or gas inhalationFollows safety protocol, including wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoesWorks in the construction or manufacturing industriesOther duties as assigned by supervisor.Qualifications Requirements/Knowledge/Education/Skills:High school diploma, Associate Degree or Technical College DegreeFormal Training Through a Vocational or Technical SchoolRead blueprints, Understanding of Electricity, Attention to Detail, Manual Dexterity, Spatial Skills, Technical SkillsPhysical Requirements and Working Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate equipments, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk, or hear; sit; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and smell. The employee may lift and/or move up to 25-35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.He / she may frequently work inside weather conditions, near moving mechanical parts, exposed to wet and or humid conditions, and an odorous atmosphere, may be exposed to fumes and the risk of electrical shock, and occasionally work on ladders in high places, in small spaces, such as lift/metering stations, manholes, tanks and wet wells.
