
Field Engineer

- Perform civil construction activities including foundation work, structural steel, concrete, trenches, and cleanroom infrastructure.
- Ensure all civil works meet FDA, GMP, and facility cleanliness requirements specific to pharmaceutical operations.
- Coordinate site layout and modifications, including floor drains, walls, slab penetrations, and architectural finishes.
- Review and interpret civil design drawings and work with contractors to resolve field issues.
- Monitor contractors' adherence to safety, schedule, and quality specifications.
- Inspect and support electrical installations related to pharmaceutical equipment, HVAC systems, clean utilities, and lighting.
- Support the installation and commissioning of power distribution systems, control panels, backup power (generators/UPS), and instrumentation.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, and FDA electrical standards and validation protocols.
- Participate in the testing, inspection, and commissioning of electrical systems, including documentation for IQ/OQ validation.
- Collaborate with automation and controls teams for equipment integration.
- Interface with multidisciplinary teams including Quality, Validation, Operations, and EH&S.
- Track field progress and provide updates to project managers and stakeholders.
- Maintain detailed records, including redline drawings, as-builts, and daily field reports.
- Support risk assessments and participate in change control processes.
- Ensure all work complies with company SOPs, GMP guidelines, and safety policies.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of field engineering experience, preferably in GMP-regulated environments or the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical facility requirements and cleanroom construction practices.
- Familiarity with FDA, GMP, NEC, and safety compliance standards.
- Proficient in reading construction drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or Revit is a plus.
- OSHA 30
- EIT or PE License (civil/electrical)
- GMP or Validation Training
- Familiarity with ISPE Baseline Guides (especially Volume 5 and 6)
- Work is performed in active construction and operational pharmaceutical facilities.
- Must be able to wear PPE and comply with cleanroom entry requirements.
- Requires walking, standing, and occasional lifting in a dynamic field setting.
